Dang, it’s hard to remember this sometimes. But I needed to see this before heading into finals!

Good for you!
I’m beginning to think it may not be possible for me to learn that. Mostly because FIRST I have to learn to unthink exactly that. Round we go…!

Truer words were never spoken!
Unless you count the phrase “chocolate ice cream heals all ills.”

Yeah, I’m with Lesboprof: what is my personal value based on, then?

My next mantra will be: “chocolate ice cream heals all ills.”
Lesboprof & Clio: I trust both of you are being sarcastic, because you are such wonderful, interesting, inspiring people — well beyond what your CVs say.
I make this my mantra because I have such a hard time remembering it — or unthinking (as Moira puts it) the idea that … well, I’m not even going to restate the mistaken belief, and thus give it more power.
But, geez, it ain’t easy to live in this reality.

A friend gave me a mantra a while back: Good. Red. Wine. That added to my existing mantra of Choc…late. I’m going to add yours to the string, with a minor change.
Good. Red. Wine. Chocolate. I am not my job.

I’m currently struggling with how to determine my personal value as well … so I just want to say that this resonated with me.

Me too – struggling, knowing this is a good mantra yet also wondering who I am if NOT at least partly the thing I spend most of my waking hours doing, invest the best of my mental energies in etc…

Oh, thank you for posting this. Good for all of us to remember in this crazy profession.
Here’s my mantra: “I’m doing the best I can.” Followed by “WhatEVER.”
